"For reasons out of my control I was late. I tried to call and there was no answer. The answering service voicemail said the office was not open for another 20 minutes. When I arrived, after a 45 min drive, the office manager said I would have to reschedule due being 30 minutes late. She asked no questions or for any reasons.
