Unlike pain medications, our treatment does not involve side-effects or dependency. Calmare Therapy uses peripheral nerve stimulation to modify sensory signals to the spinal cord. Stimulation is achieved by applying electrode pads on the skin near the painful area and delivering low voltage current. The signals delivered via small sensory fibers deliver “no-pain” messages to the spinal cord and brain. Once the electrodes are properly placed, the patient feels no pain, as the device overrides the pain signals. Treatment most often consists of 10-12 sessions on consecutive days (weekends excluded), but it can be adjusted based on patient needs.

Pain reduction is usually seen during the first treatment session.
Dr. He is an award-winning, board-certified Johns Hopkins and Harvard trained anesthesiologist and interventional pain specialist

A Texas native, she earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine followed by Anesthesiology residency training at Johns Hopkins. Dr. He further specialized and completed a Pain Fellowship at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which has been recognized as the Top Pain Management Fellowship in the Nation. Throughout her training, Dr. He has been fortunate to learn from leaders in the field. While at Harvard, she also studied novel treatments to better manage knee pain with the goal of delaying and avoiding surgery.

Dr. He enjoys meeting with and listening to patients to truly understand their individual circumstances and goals. She works collaboratively with patients to develop custom treatment plans that decrease pain and maximize quality of life. She believes in a comprehensive approach that utilizes evidence-based therapy, medication (with minimal opioids, if at all), and procedures to minimize pain, improve daily function, and improve quality of life.

Dr. He has expertise in a range of treatment modalities including: spine, joint, and musculoskeletal injections; trigger point injections; injectable neuromodulators (i.e. Botox); regional anesthesia and nerve blocks; nerve ablations; spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation; dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation; and minimally-invasive spine surgery/vertebral augmentation.
