Transurethral resection of prostate (TURP)

Prostate surgery through urethra is a therapeutic procedure performed to remove the part of the prostate that surrounds the tube leading from the bladder to outside the body (urethra). It is performed using instruments that pass through the urethra and can be done by cutting, burning, freezing, using microwaves, or with a laser. It is commonly performed to treat urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate.
