Thyroid Biopsy
Thyroid gland biopsy is a diagnostic procedure in which a sample of thyroid gland tissue is removed and examined in the laboratory for signs of cancer or other thyroid problems. The procedure can be done by two methods; fine needle biopsy and open biopsy. Fine needle biopsy is where a sample of thyroid tissue is collected using a needle and an open biopsy is where the sample tissue is removed through an incision.
