Carpal Tunnel Decompression
Carpal tunnel decompression is a procedure performed on the wrist to relieve the pain and weakness caused by pinching of the median nerve as it passes through a narrow portion of the wrist (carpal tunnel). In this procedure, the roof of the carpal tunnel is loosened (by cutting the transverse carpal ligament) which decreases pressure on the nerve, allowing it to heal.
