<p><b>Dr. Sudhir Rao</b> is the Medical Director of Pain and Spine Specialists, a premiere pain management practice in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. As the medical director, Dr. Rao leads a team of highly specialized and skilled physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. </p><div>Dr. Rao earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Bio-Psychology from the University of Michigan. He obtained his Medical Doctorate from St. George's University School of Medicine. Through his internship in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, he learned a great deal about the pathophysiology of the human body. </div><div><br></div><div>It was during his internship that Dr. Rao became invested in the challenging treatments that corresponded to complex pain conditions. Dr. Rao wanted to devote himself to improving the quality of his patient’s lives. </div><div><br></div><div>Furthering his medical expertise, Dr. Rao completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Sinai College of Medicine Dr. Rao specialized in Interventional Pain Medicine. He went on to work as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine educating other fellows and residents. </div><div><br></div><div>He feels honored that he was able to work at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Texas and support members of the armed forces and military veterans. Dr. Rao assisted in enhancing and elevating the pain clinic designated for active-duty soldiers with war-related chronic pain symptoms. He was the first to introduce the use of the spinal cord stimulator as an effective pain management technique.
