However, his parents knew they would be returning to Texas—so they wrapped him up in a Texas state flag the moment he arrived. Raised in Texas since he was five years old, Dr. Ryan Klitgaard graduated from Plano Senior High School and went on to study Biology at Texas State where he obtained his Bachelor of Science.</p><p>After graduating from Texas State, Dr. Klitgaard moved to Austin, where he worked as an optician and volunteered at a local emergency room. During his time in Austin, Dr. Klitgaard worked on a research project which aimed to help people to quit smoking. It was during this research project that he truly found his calling in healing. He made the move to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech, where he excelled in his classes and obtained his Doctorate in Medicine in only three years!</p><p>During his time as a Red Raider, he also took a medical mission trip to Nicaragua and organized a wilderness medical camp for medical students. While in Nicaragua, he was able to utilize his optician skills to help children receive prescription glasses. He also set up medical clinics to provide much-needed medical treatment in rural villages. Dr. Klitgaard feels most at home while helping others.</p><p>Dr. Klitgaard completed his residency in Amarillo at Texas Tech Family Medicine. His post-residency goal was to move back to the DFW area with his canine companion, Mabel. Dr. Klitgaard joined the MaxHealth Family in July 2019 and could not be happier. He is enjoying the relationships that he is developing with MaxHealth patients and team members.
