"She is very unprofessional. She didn't ask me permission if the male medical student could do a private pelvic exam. The medical student was fine. Yvette didn't seem to know what she was doing. She barely did a breast exam. I wish I had gotten a fully trained medical doctor instead. "

"I honestly don't think I've ever experienced worse bedside manner. I'm an NP myself and was simply dumbfounded by the manner in which she conducted the appointment. She had aggressive body language as soon as she walked in the room, rattled off inaccurate components of the HPI, did not ask me one question for clarification, immediately barked the plan options for my visit and told me it was then up to me to choose from those. I was honestly speechless by her approach and wanted to simply walk out. By the time I left I felt so shocked and insulted that I cried on the way home. It was definitely eye-opening to me that a provider could make a patient feel so worthless and disrespected. I absolutely do not recommend this provider, she was completely unprofessional, demonstrated zero compassion, and the only hint of medical advice came from an over-generalized seemingly rehearsed couple of lines that she gave to me shortly after she entered the room in a lecturing manner as if I would disagree ...
with the general knowledge she was providing. I patiently waited for my appointment and respected the tedious process only to be met with such an upsetting encounter. The entire experience was truly a complete waste of time and beyond disappointing. I really hope WashU pays attention to these reviews. "

"I have had 3-4 OB appointments with NP Van Hook over 2 pregnancies and I always leave each appointment in or near tears afterwards. She is unprofessional and jokes around when inappropriate. She is dismissive of concerns, does not seem competent at what she's doing, has a weak knowledge base, talks past/at me and just regurgitates what seem like memorized phrases without actually listening to or having a conversation with me. I leave feeling like none of my concerns were given any thought. I will see anyone at this practice except her. "

"I had a very disappointing appointment and has by far been the most unprofessional OB or clinician I have ever encountered. I was judged from the moment she saw me for no presumable reason. Made fun of and taunted me... I do not recommend this individual to guide anyone in obstetrics care or give advice regarding health of any sort. "

"I had the most horrible OB visit of my life with Dr. Van Hook, literally I felt sexually violated and was reduced to tears. They had a male medical student in my appointment and neither the nurses, Dr. Van Hook, or the student asked if this was OK with me. I attempted multiple times to tell them I wanted him to leave the room and Dr. Van Hook talked over me and interrupted me every single time. She made me feel like a textbook and with my legs spread wide open she was pointing out all my anatomy and showing the student. She also made fun of the rash in my bikini area and was teasing me when I was on the brink of tears. She didn't listen to anything I said, even with regards to why I was actually there for the visit. I felt extremely disrespected and violated and cried for several hours after the visit. I reported this to Washington U and neither the department or the doctors office ever responded to me. "

"I love Dr. Vanhook. She gave me great advice during my pregnancy and always listened. I would schedule my prenatal visit along with her schedule to make sure I was seeing her. She was a very active listener. She answered all of my husbands questions and he was very thankful l."

"This provider was a horrible listener. I have a rather rare condition that I attempted to explain to this provider so she could get an accurate picture of my health. She cut me off many many times. She was incredibly dismissive and did not listen to my concerns. Upon looking at my after visit notes, I saw that she had noted that I have a history of a serious chronic disease that I’ve never had and included several other inaccuracies in my medical chart. Listening to patients and getting an accurate medical picture is the bare minimum a provider should be doing. The care that I received was wholly unacceptable. I would not recommend this provider to anyone."
