"Dr Zaks laid out no plan of care for recently diagnosed Hashimotos outside of weight loss surgery. Literally never gave me the option to do anything else. He is a doctor that lives only in the era he received his medical degree in and has not continued to learn and approach medical issues any differently or more appropriately. He is rude, judgemental, and provides no constructive feedback. He has a serious issue with anyone that presents as overweight and immediately decides that weight loss is the only solution to innumerable medical issues, despite there being many different causes for those issues. There was never a suggestion of a nutrion plan, exercise, even medication mentioned, just 'we don't need to send medications to the pharmacy because all you need is the weight loss surgery'. Surgery should be a last resort, not a first choice. This doctor is terrible. Avoid at all costs. This is one part of the country that seeing your pcp is preferable to seeing a specialist.
