Dr. William Frazier Owen Jr, MD

William F. Owen Jr, MD, maintains a private practice in internal medicine and HIV/AIDS in San Francisco, California with a special focus on men's health and gay health care. He also serves as an active staff member at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. Dr. Owen received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His postgraduate training included a residency at Baystate Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine in Springfield, Massachusetts. He also completed a fellowship in emergency medicine at University of California, San Francisco. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is credentialed as an HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Owen has published several articles and abstracts in such journals as Annals of Internal Medicine, Clinical Infectious Diseases, and Journal of Infectious Diseases. He is a member of several professional organizations including Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, American Academy of HIV Medicine, International AIDS Society, American Medical Association and American College of Physicians. His honors include the American Society of Internal Medicine Special Recognition Award and the naming of The Owen Clinic at the University of California, San Diego in recognition of his work with gay patients. San Francisco Magazine named Dr. Owen one of the best HIV/AIDS doctors in the San Francisco Bay Area in January 2004 and as one of the top primary care physicians in the Bay Area in January 2005. In 2006, Bay Area Consumers Checkbook named Dr. Owen as one of the top-rated primary care physicians in the San Francisco Bay Area.
