Dr. McClellan is a native of Charleston, West Virginia and an honors graduate of both the University of Charleston and the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency in Morgantown and was also elected into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. Additionally, he was selected as the Outstanding Teacher of the year three years in a row.
Dr. McClellan then completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery training at the world-renowned Lahey Clinic Foundation, a Harvard Medical School and Tufts Medical School affiliate in Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, he worked at Lahey Medical Center, Brigham and Womenâ€™s Hospital, as well as the Boston Childrenâ€™s Hospital. During this time he lectured at multiple regional and national conferences on various plastic surgery topics. He also published six book chapters, numerous articles, and is currently completing his first book on plastic surgery.
Following his plastic …surgery training, Dr. McClellan completed a hand surgery and microsurgery fellowship in Durham, North Carolina in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University. The Duke University Hand and Microsurgery fellowship is widely considered to be one of the top programs in the world. While completing his work at Duke, he developed a new flexor tendon repair technique and participated in cutting-edge brachial plexus reconstruction research.
Finally, Dr. McClellan completed an aesthetic surgery fellowship at the internationally-renowned Paces Plastic Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. This fellowship is considered to be one of the best in the world and specifically focuses on cosmetic eyelid and facial reconstruction surgery. While there, Dr. McClellan performed research focused on the treatment for atypical infections following eyelid surgery.
Dr. McClellan is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has completed extensive training at some of our nationâ€™s finest institutions. He is honored to have worked with many of the true â€œmastersâ€ in cosmetic, hand, and reconstructive surgery.
