William Jonakin, MD is a founding partner of Capital City Family Medicine. He is board certified in emergency medicine and pediatrics, and has particular interest in the prevention of heart disease and stroke. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and his medical degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He completed his pediatric residency at Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1982, along with additional training in emergency medicine. Dr. Jonakin is a member of the National Lipid Association, International Atherosclerosis Society, Society for the Eradication of Heart Attack, American Society of Hypertension, and Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. He is also designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as an Aviation Medical Examiner.
