Dr. Weslei Alexandra Rice, MD

Dr. Weslei Rice grew up near Houston, in Spring, Texas. A calling to care for others led her into the medical field. The variety of treating both children and adults, as well as the opportunity to form personal relationships with patients and families all made her want to become a family medicine doctor. She is happy to be at St. Joseph, where she has the freedom to care for the whole person from both a physical and spiritual perspective. A member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '99, Dr. Rice attended medical school at UT Southwestern, in Dallas. She completed her residency at the University of Chicago MacNeal Family Medicine Program. Although she appreciates all aspects of family medicine, Dr. Rice is especially interested in both natural childbirth and preventative medicine. She takes every available opportunity to educate and encourage her patients to lead a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Rice says it is a privilege to provide prenatal and obstetrical care for expectant …mothers and is honored to continue care for moms and their babies after delivery. She enjoys working with women who have chosen natural childbirth so she and the mother can collaborate to achieve the birth experience the mom wants. Married to her wonderful husband, Matt, the Rices have three beautiful kids. Dr. Rice spends her free time enjoying her family and supporting her children's activities. Their family camps and hikes together and likes spending time outdoors.
