"I had to drive over an hr, several times just to go through the ringer with this guy.. I have a cartalidge injury on my right hip, due to fai. NOT my fault.. extra bone growth. He was extremely rude to me and told me a different surgery recovery story each time, which seemed worse. NOW, I have a knee injury, same side. Never had any knee problems before and from what I read, not treating the hip and unable to strengthen my legs will result in this. I had to have a shoulder procedure done and the day of the surgery he did the surgery I need on my hip to an older gentleman.. I’m only 36. Thanks for nothing."

"I came to Dr. Thangamani after I was diagnosed with a torn meniscus. He recommended and performed an arthroscopic partial (80% so it’s not exactly partial) meniscectomy in July of 2022. Come November, I revisited him to express my concerns that I wasn’t healing. Since the surgery, nine months later, I continue to experience major swelling and pain, now back problems and overall lack of the ability to accomplish daily activities. The follow up visit 5 months after he performed the surgery, my follow up visit consisted of him listening to me across the room. He never asked to see my knee, he didn’t have me lay down and check the swelling, my range of motion, or ask where the pain is coming from. He had nothing to say other than he could give me cortisone shots. I told him those shots are limited so maybe I should try physical therapy instead? He said sure. It’s April now. After a month of physical therapy 3x a week I decided to seek out another surgeon at Rush. After another ...
set of X-rays and MRI, my only hope now is a partial knee replacement . I am an an active person, only 54 years old. Thangamani went in and removed most of my meniscus, zero after care, zero follow up after a second visit. Rush told me they were surprised of the removal instead of choosing to repair after seeing my original MRI. He is a careless, heartless surgeon that treats patients with such disrespect. Please avoid him and Dr. Taylor should not be recommending him to you if you find yourself in the same situation. "

"It took me 3 years to write this review. The total experience has frightened me to an inch of my life. I had hip replacement surgery in 2018.(I am in my 50's). But after a brief in-patient hospital stay, I thought I would be so much better. Instead an infection developed. I went back post surgery for a doctor visit and so the Dr. said come back again in a day or so, which I did. Infection still there. Once again was given meds and told to come back yet again. Next, he said come back tomorrow. I did and was admitted once again to have a revision of the surgery. But this was not the end. The infection persisted and needed to have antibiotics administered into my arm through a tube they put in. This was to be done daily. I was in so much pain, and needed to be released, so I was sent to a rehab facility (glorified nursing home). I was so upset and stayed only 5 days and was released to my home. Still with so much pain, was basically confined to my bed for weeks except for visits to the infectious ...
disease doctor. After about 4 weeks, the revision of the hip replacement was making strange noises, went back to this doctor and he said that the xray showed the screw was unwinding and if I could hold out for another 3 or more weeks so he can perform the 3 rd surgery to correct the problem. I went home and 2 days later the hip became dislocated and I was screaming in agony! Went to the ER and they admitted me. was scheduled for surgery 3 days later. Was getting prepped and I asked where is Dr. Thangamani, and the doctor in the room said he did not know. Well they had to use a "new" surgeon to perform this surgery, Dr. Alden. After I was back in my room, Dr. T came in and I asked him where he was? He said he was there but came late. This ended up being the corrected surgery. Was on antibiotics for another 7 weeks. And when I went for last followup with the new surgeon, he had told me that the infection was so bad that my leg almost needed to be amputated. This truly scared me quite literally. Never was there any more communication with Dr. T and his office never checked to see how I was doing. I am still not doing well. All this because this doctor was negligible. And just tossed me aside. Please - if you need an orthopedic doctor, look elsewhere. You might have a worse outcome than me! "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
