Toms River, NJ Dental Staff Serving Ocean County and Surrounding Areas MEET OUR STAFF From Left to right: Dr. Major, Michelle Major, Trudy Cole, Kellie Perez, Joann Pavano, Kathie Strawder, Dr. Santiago Dr. Victoria Santiago After 3 years of pursuing a Molecular Biology degree at Montclair State University, I gained early acceptance t the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2000. I received my DMD degree from New Jersey Dental School in 2005 and began working with Dr. Major immediately after. My learning did not stop there. New research, technologies, materials, and methods are coming out everyday, and staying current with continuing education has helped me to enhance my practice of dentistry. I am proud to have earned a Fellowship Award in the Academy of General Dentistry, which shows my dedication to our patients by bringing them the very best dentistry has to offer. Recently, I began studying at the Dawson Academy, which stresses the importance of comprehensive …dentistry and takes into account how the muscles and joints play a large role in our day-to-day dentistry. Nearly a lifelong resident of Toms River, I now live in Beachwood with my husband, Adrian, and our two dogs, Cooper and Lucy. I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and watching my favorite sports team of all time, the New York Yankees. Dr. Don Major After earning my Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Ursinus College, I attended University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry and earned by DMD degree in 1970. I then joined the U.S. Army and ran a crown and bridge clinic at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. In 1975, I began practicing in my hometown of Toms River, NJ. Continuing education has always been at the forefront of my practice of dentistry. I received my Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1987 and went onto receive my Mastership Award in 2000. I also serve as a Peer Review Judge for the New Jersey Dental Association. My interests include a passion for scuba diving, sailboat racing, and power boating. I am an active member to Toms River Yacht Club and race a sailboat from the club. I live in Toms River with my wife, Michelle. Our son, Douglas, lives in San Francisco. Joann Pavano I have been with our practice for 26 years. I started as a dental assistant and now work at the front desk. I enjoy going on cruises, Atlantic City, and most especially, spending time with my family and two grandchildren, Dominic and Ava. Michelle ( Micky ) Major I have been with our practice for 15 years. I am the office manager and am also trained as a dental assistant. For the past 10 years, I have served as Co-Chair of the Winter Holiday Ball, which benefits the Community Medical Center Foundation. My husband, Don and I are licensed U.S. Coast Guard Masters, and we especially enjoy taking trips up the Hudson River or down to the Chesapeake on our boat. I also enjoy scuba diving and underwater photography. Kathie Strawder I have been with our practice as a registered dental hygienist for 35 years. I have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over 15 years and am also a Lifetime First-Aider. I live in Island Heights with my husband Ed, our two sons, Eddie and Matthew, and our dog, Patch. Trudy Cole I am enjoying my return to dentistry after a 27-year hiatus to raise my family, pursue a B.S. in Horticulture, and start my own business. I especially enjoy the interactions I have with our patients. My interests outside of the office include spending time with my family, gardening, restoring and painting furniture, decorating my home, and working with my three rescue dogs. Kellie Perez I have been a dental assistant for 10 years and joined Dr. Santiago and Dr. Major's practice in 2008. I really enjoy all the different aspects of general dentistry. The great variety of different procedures and patients makes me love my job. In my spare time, I enjoy going to concerts, being involved in my congregation, and spending time with my two sons, Giovanni and Jeremy.
