OVERVIEW
As a board-certified family medicine specialist, Dr. Vicky Baker can care for people at every stage of life.
“We see people of all ages, from newborn babies to seniors,” she said. “It’s a good fit for me because I like to help people long-term”
Most of Dr. Baker’s practice involves treating acute illnesses, minor injuries and managing chronic physical and mental health issues. Along with caring for children and adults, she is committed to helping elderly patients and their families through the changing health status and updates in living situations. And if needed, she works closely with local palliative care or hospice programs to provide quality end of life care.
Because she emphasizes preventative care, Dr. Baker helps her patients avoid problems before they can start.
“Preventative health care is crucial to staying healthy,” she said. “It’s important to be up to date on immunizations and get the proper screenings as you …age. We want to head off issues and catch things early.”
Dr. Baker completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health in Madison. She completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin–Family Practice Center in Wausau. She is board certified in family medicine.
Dr. Baker came to Wausau from Indiana because she likes the community and the excellent medical practice environment at Marshfield Clinic Health System. She is involved in her church and does mission work in several countries around the world.
In her spare time, she and her two children love camping, fishing and outdoor sports in the summer and winter.
