OVERVIEW
I was born and raised in Syracuse, New York where I graduated high school in 1968 and attended college where I played baseball. I was drafted into the US Army on December 4th, 1970 and completed my basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey in February 1971. I was assigned to Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado where I completed my specialist training in July 1971 as an optician and optometric technician. I completed my active duty assigned to the eye clinic at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in September of 1972. It was here that I had the opportunity to work with five optometrists from the University of Houston’s College of Optometry, who encouraged me to pursue a career in optometry after my tour of duty. I received my honorable discharge in December 1976. I moved to Texas in September 1973 and immediately worked as an optician at Tri-Cities Optical and attended Lee College to complete My basic course requirements for the Optometry College. I earned my Associate in Science degree …as a distinguished Scholar with a 4.0 GPA. I transferred to the University of Houston in 1975 and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 and my Doctor of Optometry degree in 1979. I opened a private practice in August 1979 in Baytown and practiced there until 2015. I was involved in the local Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Baytown and volunteered as a baseball coach in the Colt League and coached a select baseball team for 29 years. I enjoy working with youth and giving back to the community. I was also involved with the local Houston chapter of the Texas Optometric Association, where I served as a board member for many years, a term as Secretary and a term as President. I also volunteer to go on mission trips to Mexico for the Rotary Foundation and helping to give back internationally! I reside in Baytown where I am an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. I look forward to this opportunity to work in Baytown and serve this community that means so much to me personally.
