"Over the course of my 55 years on this Earth I have sought out counseling/therapy for various individual/family dynamic issues. My overall experience is that none of the practitioners could hold firm boundaries. In my humble opinion, this is the foundation for a solid working relationship. My experience with Dr. Freitas has been quite the opposite. The firm boundaries he has provided in our sessions has created a safe space for me to safely work on my personal growth and has helped me resolve long-standing barriers to my healthy response to the world around me. He is the first therapist who does not overtly insert himself into my sessions. Being someone who has a history of seeking approval from others this has been a beautiful experience of learning to 1) recognize my tendency to do this and 2) have a safe space where it is all about me! "Outstanding ISTDP practitioner. Began identifying my defenses within the first few minutes of the session. Compassionate and attuned. I recommend him for anyone wanting to quickly get to the root of their emotional suffering. "

"Mediocre overall. He’s an okay psychologist, but not someone you should expect to work on any significant conditions (even ones he treats). He spreads himself pretty thin and doesn’t really know how to isolate the real issues. He’s decent at ISTDP, but not great. I thought his overall demeanor was really uncomfortable. He demands cash for appointments (won’t even accept a card) and counts it out painstakingly slowly before the appointment every time. Even after multiple appointments. He’s really aggressive, and not in a way that was effective or even getting at the underlying emotions. He’s also very controlling. I don’t want to mention specifics, but I’m not just venting here."
