OVERVIEW

Woodbridge Family Dentistry - Steven D. Strickland, DDS Dr. Strickland is a graduate of Woodbridge Senior High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.  He immediately began his solo practice of family dentistry in Lake Ridge upon graduation from Case Western Reserve University, School of Dentistry in 1990.  Dr. Strickland has completed over 600 hours of continuing education courses including the Implant Training Mini Residency Program and is certified to use the Biolase Laser.  He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Society, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, Woodbridge Study Club, and the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Strickland was recently recommended in the October 2006 Washingtonian Magazine as one of the Best Dentists in the D.C, Maryland, and Virginia areas.  In July 2010, Dr. Strickland received his Fellowship Award from the Academy of General …Dentistry.  This award is presented to individuals who have achieved over 500 hours of continuing education and passed a comprehensive exam covering all aspects of dentistry.  He has been recognized by Northern Virginia Magazine as one of the top cosmetic and general dentists in the area.

"I have spent a lifetime trying to find the doctor who solved my dental problems not create more. My last experience of having 2 root canals (with my previous dentist...which by the way was the last straw -- there were many other issues leading up to the root canals -- after being with him for 10 years), only to have one of the roots fracture as a result of his work, I said enough was enough. I researched for weeks evaluating reviews, "interviewing" over the phone potential contenders (dental offices), both in network and out of network. Dr. Strickland's office was the last call I ever had to make. It was immediate. From the first phone call, his staff was beyond professional and friendly, they were kind, patient taking the time to respond honestly and frankly to every question I had. I immediately felt a sense of safety I had lost with a growing fear of dentists. I scheduled an appointment. After examining my teeth (x-ray's etc.) Dr. Strickland gently corrected an area on my crown that was affecting my bight I hadn't realized was uncomfortable until he fixed it. He spent the entire hour talking with me, very clearly, precisely, honestly about my dental issues. He did NOT push, he worked with me on a plan to move forward at my discretion armed with a thorough knowledge and understanding of my dental challenges. My previous dentist tried to coerce me into a laundry list of work, much of which Dr. Strickland pointed out was not needed. I have been with Dr. Strickland for about 2 years now. I will never look back. He performed an implant and a filling. The implant to replace a shattered tooth (from previous dental work) and a replacement filling. Something that could have been very scary turned out to be a "walk in the park" in the hands of Dr. Strickland. I can honestly say, I am at peace going to the dentist and am grateful to Dr. Strickland and his staff.

"I have been going to Dr. Strickland for over 20 years now, ever since I retired from the Army in the late 1990s. Before that, all my kids all went to Dr. Strickland for their dental care. I continue to use him even though I moved to Maryland eight years ago and have to travel some distance to see him. It is worth it; there is no substitute for first class health care and that is what I get from Dr. Strickland and his excellent staff. Yesterday was my first visit during the COVID-19 pandemic and his staff took great pains to explain all the safety precautions that they have put in place to protect their patients. I had a great visit and feel really good about how well I am taking care of my oral hygiene - thanks to the great work and guidance from Dr. Strickland and his staff. One last point - in all my years, I have never had a single issue with billing, insurance or appointments, so his administrative staff is excellent as well.
