"Extremely dissatisfied. I went into the BSW ER with sores in my mouth. I'm a healthy 37 year-old male with no record of medical trouble. My wife and I frequently pick-up random bits here and there from our two small children. After quick oral exam Dr. Elsbecker prescribed a magic mouth wash and explained my symptoms would be gone in 48 hours. Four days later and in a worsened condition I decided to opt for a second opinion. I made an appt. with a family practice doc in the BSW network. This provider clearly voiced his disdain for the"lazy exam" I rec'd from Dr. Elsbecker...he didn't take blood, swipe for a culture, have any discussion, etc. I have been diagnosed with hand/foot/mouth virus. I've now received the treatment plan I needed long ago -- pain meds and steroids to treat the oral and esophageal sores (excruciating). The GP clearly explained my symptoms could have easily been anything other than simple canker sores; it could have been HFM, mono, a number of things. ...
How unprofessional of Dr. Elsbecker not to treat accordingly. Had I been carefully and thoroughly examined for all possible diagnoses, proper treatment might have saved me lost time with my family through this holiday week. I'll voice my experience to those I'm close to and I would urge anyone going into the BSW Lakeway ER to read previous reviews of the providers they see as they are able. And if you're reading this Dr. Elsbecker, I would welcome a conversation as I'd like you to hear it directly from the source. "
