What is your patient care philosophy?
Health starts with good habits and a focus on variety and moderation. A variety of activities, interests, hobbies, and foods — while avoiding anything in excess — will help keep life exciting and fresh. Healthcare goals should be personal and intentional. Change can sometimes be frightening and difficult, but partnering with supportive and caring individuals who help you to maintain focus and to work on achieving one small goal at a time will make your path to health easier and more rewarding. Movement is the key to life, whether it be movement through exercise, or movement toward your goals — it’s always necessary keep moving.
What do you enjoy most about working with patients?
There is nothing more rewarding to me as a physician than partnering with a patient and helping them achieve their goals.
How does your work improve lives?
Life has so much to offer, but for many people with health conditions, these medical issues can be a barrier to fully enjoying life to its fullest. My goal is to help minimize health-related barriers and work with patients to maximize their access to all of life’s joys.
What else would you like to share with our readers?
With LRH, I am the Family Medicine Residency Program Director as well as the Director of Student Medical Education. I love to teach — whether this is teaching my patients about their healthcare concerns and treatment plans or teaching our next generation of cutting-edge physicians — the sharing and passing down of knowledge is what makes us exceptional.
With which community and volunteer organizations are you involved?
I am associate medical director of, and volunteer regularly with, Shepherd’s Hope, which is a nonprofit clinic for under-insured or un-insured patients in Central Florida.
