"Dr. Thompson at Alexandria Family Practice screamed at me over the phone, swore at me, and abruptly hung up despite my remaining completely calm in our conversation. Before that, she also cancelled my appointment minutes beforehand with no notice and told me to seek medical care elsewhere.
This happened after I asked her to make the accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act of wearing an N95 mask during my appointment -- which her office had assured me days before would be no problem. Then, just before the scheduled appointment, I was told she changed her mind and would be terminating me as an established patient.
I specifically chose this practice because they said they could mask for me, as it's so difficult to find safe medical care these days when you're high risk.
Dr. Thompson over the phone repeatedly falsely told me I do not have a disability or right to an accommodation, which is itself horrible treatment of a patient and a violation of the ADA.
No matter what ...your view on masking in health care, no patient should ever be treated this way by a care provider.
Dr. Thompson is clearly unable to keep her anger in check and keep her composure when speaking with patients. "Read more
