"Robin, There is something on my mind that has been bothering me for the past two years. Shortly after Esther died in February 2020, I made a telephone call to you to express my condolences. Fully recognizing that she was yours and Stephen's devoted mother, I wished to convey simply that I, too, held her very dearly. Esther had been a generous and wonderfully helpful person whose loving advice and assistance were a gift to me, personally, and to my parents. Instead of a kind receptiveness to my call, your manner was taciturn in a curt, almost dismissive way. I must say that I was deeply hurt and thereby unable to convey the depth of my feelings towards Esther.
