"I'm never going to see him again. I just moved to the area and picked him for my doctor. I'm currently taking a couple of psychotropic medications. At my new patient appointment, I went over my concerns about getting them filled since going "cold turkey" can have serious ramifications. He was uncomfortable writing prescriptions for psychiatric care with no medical records. I can understand that, however, when he wrote a script for a medication that I take for anxiety/insomnia (2 pills every night), he wrote the prescription for one pill at night. He agreed to write the script but never told me that he was reducing the amount. I contacted him to ask why he reduced the amount and never received an answer. I called the office to ask, but they seemed to be towing the line. I'm guessing that because I'd written and now called a new script was sent to the pharmacy. However, I had to wait over a week to get it filled. This whole process took over 2 weeks to resolve and I ended up going without the prescription for a little over a week. When I called my insurance to find behavioral health care, I'd mentioned how long it took for me to get my prescription, etc. I was asked if I wanted to file a complaint. I did. At my next appointment, when my medical records were received, he'd skimmed through the pages of my medical records and it sounded to me that he disapproved of what was sent. I'd made a point of bringing all of the medications I took, including supplements, so he could see the meds I took. Towards the end of the appointment, he not only mentioned the complaint, he was adamant that it was "resolved" as if making me deal without my psychotropic medication for a week was acceptable. He also accused me of "playing games" with him to get my medications (I've been on these medications for over 10 years) and that with 30 something years that he's practiced medicine, he's never gotten a complaint. Honestly, I don't care how long a doctor has been a doctor. It's MY health at stake. And halving my dosage without discussing it with me in addition to my body shaking uncontrollably for a week is not acceptable. What happened to "do no harm"?? "
