Dr. Richard Calabrese regulary attends continuing education courses, learning seminars and dental meetings to stay informed of the newest dental implant techniques and latest equipment to provide you with the best possible dental care and service in a relaxed state-of the-art environment.
Dr. Richard Calabrese is a 1994 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in Ohio, where he earned top honors and graduated first in his class. He has also received advanced training in cosmetic and restorative dentistry at internationally recognized institutions, including dental implant placement and restoration from the Misch International Implant Institute. In 2006, Dr. Calabrese was awarded Fellow status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and is one of only six dentists in the Scottsdale area to hold this prestigious honor. The culmination of this experience has placed him at the forefront of implant dentistry and allowed him to be recognized as one of “The Best Dentists in America†in 2006 and 2007.

• Studied implant surgery and bone grafting under Gordon Christensen, a leader in dental education and research.
The Institute for Facial Esthetics, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
• Worked with Dr. Tom Balshi for three days to master the “Teeth In a Day†dental implants technique, in which teeth are removed and an implant supported prosthesis completed in one appointment.
The American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dayton, Ohio
• 17 hours of study and hands-on training in the area of sinus grafting for implant placement and bone grafting for advanced implant placement techniques.
Mastering Dental Implants & Tissue Regenerations Procedures, Little Rock, Arkansas
• Completed 15 hours of study and hands-on experience with Dr. Donald Callan, an expert in the field of dental implants and tissue grafting
The Midwest Implant Institute, Columbus, Ohio
• Attended 12 hours of lecture on implants in the maxillary sinus region, use of special sinus implants and maxillary sinus grafting

• Completed 120 hours of implant surgical training by the foremost authority on implant dentistry, Dr. Carl Misch.
Personal Highlights
While in Ohio, Dr. Calabrese worked with Sea World’s Head Veterinarian and animal trainers to treat dental disease in their animal population, especially periodontal disease in Sea Lions. He also developed preventive procedures to assist in the on-going maintenance of Killer whale dental problems. Dr. Calabrese served as staff dentist for “stars†such as “Shamu the Killer Whale†and “Tony the Sea Lion†and has stories which usually get smiles from his smaller patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Calabrese enjoys mountain biking, restoring cars and spending time with his wife, Sue and son, Kevin.
