Dr. RICHARD R. BURNS, MD, is a board-certified Ophthalmologist specializing in Refractive Laser Eye Surgery, Cataract Surgery, and Refractive Lensectomy (RLE). He has performed refractive surgery for more than 35 years and has corrected the vision of thousands of San Diego, Temecula, Hemet, Sun City, and Murrieta patients.

As a highly regarded San Diego Laser Eye Surgery specialist, Dr. Burns performs a range of advanced Laser procedures in addition to LASIK treatment. At his state-of-the-art facility, patients can also undergo LASEK, and PRK procedures. For those patients who do not qualify for Laser Eye Surgery, Dr. Burns offers a Refractive Lensectomy. During this procedure, he removes the patient’s natural lenses and replaces them with sophisticated Intraocular Lens Implants (IOLs). He offers several types of refractive IOLs in San Diego. Dr. Burns received his medical doctorate from the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following medical school, Dr. Burns completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Diego, where he served his final year as Chief Resident. Following his residency, Dr. Burns served as a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the UCSD School of Medicine.
