"I had an opportunity to meet Dr. Redmond Burke and I am unable to articulate how impressed I was with him. I was with my friend, her daughter, and her grandson, the day the grandson was scheduled to have heart surgery. He was only five years old. As a benefactor to a children's hospital in the area near my home, I telephoned a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon I know to ask about the procedure. All I coukd tell him is they are going to clamp something off. He explained to me the grandchild would be in the hospital for five to seven days. When I arrived, my friend told me her grandson would be discharged the same day or the next day. I did not say anything. At the hospital, prior to surgery, Dr. Burke entered room, and when he started to talk, I could tell he is not only smart, he is intelligent. I was extremely impressed. After he said the grandchild would be discharged that evening or the next morning, I could not refrain, and I asked, "How?" He looked at me and smiled and said, "I'm sorry, ...
I did not hear you." I asked, "How do you perform heart surgery on a five year old and discharge him the same day." He explained to me he uses minimally invasive thoracic surgery, which is a type of video assisted surgery, and compared it to laparoscopic surgery, gallbladder removal. The incisions they make are small and they do not open the chest. I asked where did he discover this technology and how long has he has used it. Ever so politely, he smiled, and responded by explaining to me that he helped develop the technology in the early 90s, and it is used all over the world. I thought to myself, Dr. Burke is one of the best if he has helped develop technoogy used all over the world. I had never met anyone like this. The grandson was discharged the next morning and there were no complications. "

"My wife and I were scared when our baby was born with a congenital heart disease, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect some children are born with. Our pediatrician tells me there is another problem, the medication prostaglandin was not at the hospital. The condition is so rare, the hospital pharmacy allowed it to expire. Prostaglandin was needed to keep the patent ductus arteriosus open, according to our pediatrician. She told me it was enroute from another hospital. Time was of the essence. The patent ductus arteriosus could not close. It usually closes after birth. I spoke to the the pediatrician in the hallway and told her I did not feel comfortable with just any pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon. I asked, "If this were your child, who would you want to operate on your son?" Without pausing and without hesitation, she spoke of only one surgeon, Dr. Reymond Burke. I asked the pediatrician to make it happen. She did. Dr. Burke and his team are amazing. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
