"To say Dr. Ramya Embar has bad bedside manners is an understatement. She has NO bedside manner at all. I consulted her for some symptoms I was having. After telling her all my symptoms, Dr. Embar told me they are consistent with Carcinoid, but not to worry because it is a benign cyst. She didn’t explain any further but told me to LOOK IT UP ONLINE. Dr. Embar also said I needed to have a blood test and the HIAA 24-hour urine test. Unbeknownst to me, that was the end of my consultation with her. I never saw her again that day. The nurse came in and took 10 vials of blood, then gave me a jug to take home for my HIAA 24-hour urine test., telling me I didn’t need to refrigerate it only after I asked. It is now April 18; I saw her on April 7 and I still do not know my test results. She never told me she would be out of office until after April 27 and that I wouldn’t know anything until the next available appointment with her, which is scheduled for May 12. That is a total of 35 ...
days of waiting after a diagnosis of Carcinoid?! I communicated with her office via the portal and after 7 messages back and forth I found out that I had no dietary restrictions while on the HIAA test(she didn’t tell me that either). I was also told by the RN I came in contact with that she would be out of town until the 27 and that I would not be given the test results until my next appointment with her, which I had made for May 12. I found her lack of communication appalling; she does not seem to understand that her words can generate doubt and fear in someone not in the medical field. It was thanks to the RN Jeremy that I was somewhat put at ease with the knowledge that should something alarming show up in my tests, one of the attending physicians would reach out to me. I would not have known that if I had not taken the initiative to text for my test results. I have cancelled my followup appointment with her and I will never go back to her again. i definitely do not recommend her services to anybody! P.S. Finally, an Update! On April 30, her office sent me a note that said, “All labs including tryptase, 24 hour urine HIAA , metanephrines are normal. no carcinoid or pheochromocytoma . pls let me know if you receive this message”. At this point, I will be getting a second opinion from Emory. "

I have never written a bad review for any doctor, but feel others need to be forwarned. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
