Dr. Penmetsa completed an internship at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio; a general surgery residency at University of Illinois Metropolitan Hospitals in Chicago; a surgical research and ER residency at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in Chicago; an internal medicine residency at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, and a cardiology fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center's Krannert Institute of Cardiology. He most recently practiced with Prisma Health in Seneca, South Carolina; at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina; and with Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent's Cardiology in Waycross, Georgia. He also served as Chief of Cardiology at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina.
