"There are 5 stages of grief. I don't go around writing Google reviews about grief, just honest reviews that seem to be centered mostly on mental health practitioners. Coincidence, I’m sure. Allow me to explain how this relates to Dr. Taft. I was a patient of Dr. Taft for almost 3 years. I started seeing him in 2020 through the end of 2022. I had been warned by Dr. Taft that he was going to use a new company called Headway. They're some kind of extra middle man related to your health insurance. And a scam. Headway assured me that I would be able to see Dr. Taft. But I had been down this path before. One look at your insurance card and the reaction is always the same. "OH. We don't take *this* version of BCBS.” E.g: we don't take customers who pay $616/mo. with zero assistance from anyone. Those people like me are subhuman. As Dr. Taft well knows, I used to be a real human. For years, I had the plan where there is health insurance that is universally accepted, rarely has any kind of cost ...
attached, and hey guess what! They'll even pay for whatever we're calling your sex change this week. Now THAT policy was paid for by the American taxpayer. But my plan, which is paid for by no one except me is the subhuman one. And Headway informed that my plan would not cover Dr. Taft. What I did not expect, was what Dr. Taft did next. I believed there was some kind of "plan" for the small handful of existing subhuman patients Dr. Taft had that would cost me more than my previous $20 copay back when my policy was accepted but would be less than the $3.77 per minute that he charges to see existing patients who are stuck in the prison of the ACA or have no insurance. Maybe $50-$80/session. But Dr. Taft told me it would be the $200 cash pay rate for a 53 minute session and then he said 2 things that sealed the deal: 1. "$50 per session is just not possible to run a practice with for me..." My take: $50 a session, or ~$1 per minute is not going to bankrupt your practice. But Headway might. Because it turns out, they don't have such a hot track record with paying providers. And they're not very communicative with providers at all. And there are A LOT of complaints about them. See below. 2. "If you obtain a better insurance policy.... you are welcome any time." My take: Dr. Taft knows that I can't get another policy, a better policy, or one that the scam called Headway approves of. And honestly, I don't want a dime of my money going to them anyway. On top of that, if I as a patient am only worth seeing for nearly $4 a minute when you are *acutely aware* that I have been in the active throes of am ongoing crisis… no words. Dr. Taft, you were the last person I expected to prioritize money hunger over mental health and I have been grieving the loss of my therapy sessions with you for the last month. Today is the first day I feel able to even write this review as I grieve that loss. So back to those stages of grief. I skipped the first one, denial. I realize that money is far more important than mental health. Then there is anger. That's where I'm at, and I'm pretty certain I skipped stage 3 and have gone back and forth between anger and depression (5th stage) over the last month. I don't think I will ever reach acceptance. I fail to accept this. I'm not going to go find another therapist, one that accepts subhumans. Finding a good therapist is hard. At the end of my 3rd year of therapy, I was doing so well, but still dealing with this horrific crisis. *takes swig of wine* It's 5pm somewhere… That brings me to my last point. 473 days into my sobriety, something happened that was more than I could handle. As I took that first drink and shattered the record I had, it dawned on me. For people like me, who have no other option, this is what therapy is: alcohol. Cheaper, available for purchase 7 days a week and I can even get it delivered. I don’t have to fight BCBS or deal with that scam Headway. It’s legal, I can buy as much of it as I want, and "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
