Dr. Angevine is a member of the Spine Center at the Columbia University Medical Center. He has received specialized fellowship training in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric and adult spinal deformities.Dr. Angevine's unusual training reflects his belief that a surgeon with the most comprehensive training is best able to treat spinal disorders effectively. After completing his residency in neurological surgery at The Neurological Institute of New York, Dr. Angevine became the first neurosurgeon to be admitted to and complete the prestigious fellowship in spine surgery at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis emphasizing the operative treatment of complex spinal deformities. As a result of this training he brings to each patient the expertise necessary to evaluate and, if required, treat disorders of spinal alignment such as scoliosis or sagittal imbalance.Dr. Angevine's special interests include Adult and Pediatric Spinal Deformities, …Neuromuscular Spinal Deformities, Complex Revision Spinal Surgery and Global and Regional Sagittal Imbalance.Special interests include congenital scoliosis; infantile and juvenile idiopathic scoliosis; adolescent idiopathic scoliosis; Scheuermann's kyphosis; neuromuscular scoliosis, including neurofibromatosis; cerebral palsy, Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy; adult idiopathic scoliosis; adult degenerative scoliosis; sagittal imbalance/flatback deformity; spinal column tumors; postlaminectomy cervical kyphosis; and complex thoracolumbar revision surgery.

"Dr. Peter Angevine is the absolute best doctor that I have had in my entire life. He completed my major 14.5 hour spinal surgery from T1-S2 with anchor to the pelvis this past July. I gained 2.1 inches in height, and I am standing straight for the first time in my life. This surgery was an outstanding success. He rounded every morning while I was in the spinal hospital, and his care, bedside manner and follow up are the best. I would highly recommend Dr. Angevine to anyone who needs major spinal surgery!"
