"I recently went for a VA hearing test, and while the front desk and check-out personnel were fantastic, my experience with the hearing test examiner was disappointing. I felt rushed and disregarded as she hurried through the process without giving me a chance to fully express my concerns about my tinnitus and hearing loss."

"Jessup is a quack. I filled out my questionnaire and one of the problems that I noted, she stated wasn't due to my issue. I read quite a few studies that says differently. Another problem, I had conflicted with an out of pocket sudiologist I went to. The doc went over my options for hearing aids. He showed me ones that my insurance would cover all but $900/aid. So $1800 out of pocket. The other option was soundgear. These have 4 settings. 1 being a hearing aid, another for shooting with compression, another being a wildlife option and the 4th dead silence. The doc said the hearing aid portion covers the range my hearing loss is currently at. Jessup kept contradicting the out of pocket doc. Saying that they compress in all modes, which is not correct. From both experience and online studies. Lastly, while in the waiting froom, they looped a QTC commercial. From what I gathered from the commercial, they don't hire quality MDs. One last thing, QTC was locked up tighter than fort Knox. I'm assuming they have a lot of disgruntled patients."

"QTC Dr. Perma Jessup gets paid to bully and belittle veterans. She doesn’t greet you but will tell you immediately to shut off your phone. This is because her behavior during the exam is poor. She doesn’t listen to your symptoms. She attempts to belittle and challenge you on what you experience and suffer through everyday. She constantly interrupts and doesn’t take the time to read the completed questionnaire. Her mind is already made up that your hearing is fine and you don’t experience ringing. She becomes frustrated during testing if you can’t hear and say “you need to listen”. Seriously. Why do you think I’m here? She’s extremely rude. If you are a veteran, please request a different doctor. Don’t subject yourself to her harsh and unprofessional behavior. QTC please reevaluate Dr. Perma Jessup. "

"I went in for a hearing exam for hearing loss/tinnitus from my military service. The doctor who took me back to her office told me to turn off my phone (not silent or otherwise) and I think I know why. She breezed through my questionnaire, and started the tests. I struggled through the tests. The first being "hear the word, say the word." I didnt realize any audio had played until she started the second test which was beeping. The third test was repeating a sentence with a changing word. "Say the X again". The first sentence I wasn't sure what the X word was because I just couldn't hear it clearly. So I said "Say the something again?" at which point she stopped the test to tell me that if I hear the word I must say the word. Because if I don't she doesnt report it to the VA. I tried to tell her that I just couldn't hear the word clearly enough to repeat it. She didn't seem to care as she continue the test. For a minute or two I was really struggling. "Say the...what again?" "uhhh" "Say the nag again?" I was barely sure of any words that I was hearing as it sounded like an ancient recording with low quality and it was too quiet for me to clearly hear. She stopped the test and changed it to a "different level with a different word list". This one was much easier as the voice was clear and enunciated, and the words were simple . "Say the STOP again, Say the HOME again, say the DEATH again." she ended the test, walked me to the front, told me that my hearing was "Normal in both ears" and told me to check out as she left. I was stunned and wasnt sure if I had heard her correctly (no pun intended). In what world does it make sense that a Veteran's struggling to hear and understand sounds during an audio exam for hearing loss means "Hearing normal"? This is either out of Malice, Incompetence, or some other pettiness that I can't understand."
