"I went to Dr. Kenworthy to see if I could figure out how to treat my current kidney pain, and also to see what options I had for preventing future stones. First Visit: Explained my situation, barely had time to get any questions answered. All he told me was that he needed to schedule a CT Scan. He was literally walking out the door and I asked him is there anything you can give me for the pain? I'm barely able to go to work. He told me to take tylenol... 2nd Visit: Went over my CT Scan results, said he didn't see anything and told me he wanted to schedule a contrast CT. I told him the tylenol wasn't working and had to basically beg him for something stronger. I was in serious pain and it was affecting my daily life! He begrudgingly gave me some Tylenol 3 with Codeine, which still did not help with my pain. 3rd visit: Went over the results of my Contrast CT and told me he still didn't see anything wrong. He was going to refer me to a Gastroenterologist, and I had to tell him look man, I've ...
had kidney pain in the past I know what it feels like. This is not a stomach issue it is my kidneys! So he responded well if you feel that way I can go in with a scope and see what I can find. So we scheduled a surgery for him to go in and look with a scope. Surgery: Drove to Huntsville to have the surgery done. After I woke up from the surgery, did not get to see or speak with him. The recovery nurse told me that he had to put a stent in my ureter. I had to call HIM to find out exactly what happened and what he saw. He said I had a stricture on my ureter and he put the stent in for 3 to 4 weeks to see if that would open it up. Very painful experience! I was in so much pain the first day, I called the triage nurse (you have no way to directly talk to Dr. Kenworthy). She was very rude and told me straight up that Dr. Kenworthy would not prescribe me anything stronger. The next day I was in so much agony that my wife drove me to the emergency room. I left a message for Kenworthy telling him that I was going to the ER. He called me back while I was in the ER and I explained to him my situation. He literally told me "maybe you are just more susceptible to pain than other people". Got admitted to the ER, they gave me pain meds which was a huge relief after being in agony for 2 days straight. Come to find out I had an infection from the procedure!!! They kept me overnight and gave me antibiotics and I had a follow up with Kenworthy the next week. I tried and tried to find someone else, as I did not want to go back to him. No one was willing to take me in since they were not the ones that put the stent in. So I was forced to go back to Kenworthy. When I told him about my infection, he said oh you probably didn't actually have an infection, I bet they didn't even test for cultures...I dealt with the pain and discomfort for a couple weeks. About 3 days before my appt to get it removed, I fell back into some really intense pain again. Ended up back at the ER. They determined that my stent had slipped out a little and coiled in my bladder. They consulted with Kenworthy's office (they had to talk to another doctor, because yet again Kenworthy was unavailable). He told them to just keep my appt as is and it would be removed. Stent Removal: Super painful, one of the worst of my life. One redeeming factor is that I told him how nervous I was about getting it and (and being awake) so he gave me the option to use NO2. Glad I did. After he got the stent out, he basically told me to come back in 4 weeks to do another scan and determine if the procedure worked. I was literally fine and pain free for about 2 weeks. Then I got the same pain that I had before I went to see him originally. I called his office and left a message with him. He scheduled me another CT a couple days later. Got it done and saw him after. He literally said he saw nothing wrong and there was nothing else he could do for me. I was still experiencing a lot of pain. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND "
