A lifelong resident of Lake County, Illinois, Dr. Kattner was born in Waukegan and grew up in Gurnee. The son of an educator and a homemaker, Dr. Kattner attended the Gurnee District 56 schools and graduated from Warren Township High School in 1981. Following his graduation from the University of Illinois - Urbana, he immediately enrolled at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1989. Dr. Kattner’s postdoctoral studies earned him a Master's Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Each of Dr. Kattner’s four degrees have been earned at the Summa Cum Laude or Magna Cum Laude levels and he graduated first in his class (valedictorian) at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry. Dr. Kattner is a licensed specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and averages more than 90 hours of continuing education annually.
Dr. Kattner is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, as well as the Illinois State and Chicago Dental Societies. He is honored to have been selected for Diplomate status with the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists and has served in leadership roles at a variety of levels within organized dentistry. Presently Dr. Kattner serves as Speaker of the House of the Illinois State Dental Society, House of Delegates.
Dr. Kattner is married to Lynn, who was his high school Homecoming date, and they have four children, Kaelen, Joshua, Emily and Erin. He is active in his local church, enjoys home improvement and is pretty easy to talk into a round of golf.
