"On the positive side, Dr. Guiv played key part in me giving up alcohol a couple of years ago - just by palpating my abdomen & making a gentle suggestion. So I definitely have to give her credit for that. On the negative side, IDK how she stays in business with the brusqueness of her 'bedside manner.' I went to her over a minor, but chronic itch at the anus. But either Dr. Guiv didn't want to talk about that or else she was saying it was my fault because I add some hot sauce to my eggs in the morning. Either way, for her the agenda was all about being 'screened for cancer' by submitting to a colonoscopy. This is to say, my general practitioner was lining up patients who could qualify for one. It's a lot like when you step onto a new car lot and the nice salesperson (the GP) does all the schmoozing with the unsuspecting customer and then passes them onto the sales manager who grinds on them until they end up with a car pmt they can't afford. Then the office staff hands you a clipboard ...
where you say Dr. Guiv explained ALL the risks AND the alternatives to colonoscopy. "Um, no you didn't." So, RELUCTANTLY, they called Dr. Guiv back to the exam room to explain these things to me. Dr. Guiv said, "Well, there's a one in 5,000 chance you sustain a perforation." But here once again, Dr. Guiv was as brusque as before and really didn't want to answer any questions. I later found out the AVERAGE chance of a perforation is actually one in 2,000. Which is 250% GREATER than she said. So she's either completely ignorant or otherwise a liar. But these are just the AVERAGES. Whether or not a colonoscopy has ANY protective benefit against colon cancer is HIGHLY OPERATOR-DEPENDENT. So who knows what Dr. Guiv's track record is? She could be among the best or she could be among the worst. The public really has nothing to go on. Just blind faith. So needless to say, Dr. Guiv completely failed at convincing me of ANY benefit to going through the arduous prep for colonoscopy just to help her make the next mortgage payment. Also, before you just schedule yourself for a colonoscopy with Dr. Guiv, you need to check with your insurance provider to see if all the other clowns in the circus as well as the facility itself are in your network or not. If you didn't have an ulcer BEFORE going to Dr. Guiv, when you get the bill, you might have one AFTERWARDS. "

"I am not someone who takes the time to write negative reviews. But I believe people should feel empowered, safe, and comfortable to take control of their health, which is what I was trying to do when I made an appointment to see Dr. Guiv. I have had stomach issues for half of my life (14 years). I actually cannot think back to a time when I didn't have stomach issues, but I learned to deal with them because I've always put off seeing a specialist, whether it was because I didn't have good insurance, didn't make the time, or was embarrassed to talk to a stranger about the intimate goings on of my gut and bowels. I found Dr. Guiv through my insurance app, and purposefully made an appointment with her (even though the medical office is 30 miles from my home) because of the good review I saw. I didn't want to waste my time going to a doctor who didn't have time to work with me and didn't take the time to dig into the details of the different types of stomach pain and issues I have dealt ...
with, as they range and are varied. I was so excited to get to see this doctor and begin a path towards understanding my stomach issues and hopefully not suffering anymore after so long. After a very brief introduction, Dr. Guiv told to tell her about my issues in 5 minutes. I understand that doctors are usually bound to a short amount of time, but this was not a way to begin a patient-doctor relationship and make me feel comfortable or able to open up about my stomach issues. She said she basically wasn't worried unless I was having diarrhea or losing a bunch of weight, neither of which are my issues. She proceeded to pepper me with questions extremely fast, often interrupting me when I was answering her previous questions. At one point, she recommended I get a pelvic ultrasound. I asked her if this would be in the visit notes because I might forget exactly what she's recommending (I don't talk about these things all day and "pelvic ultrasound" isn't something that is just part of my daily to-do list, so thought it was reasonable to ask if it would be written down). She responded by asking me if I had a memory problem. At that point, I became overwhelmed with the frustration and disappointment of not feeling like Dr. Guiv cared at all about working towards understanding my stomach issues and began crying. I felt gaslit, like I was a burden on her. She kind of started to offer options...an endoscopy (I think?) and a poop test, but didn't explain the rationale and at that point, I didn't feel like I would ever want to come back to her office. At that point, she ended the appointment, walked out of the room, and left the door open while I was still crying. I cried all the way back to Ventura lol. I'm truly disappointed, hurt, and frustrated by this visit with Dr. Guiv. People are already inhibited in taking control of their health, and this is one of the reasons why. Some doctors make you feel stupid, like a burden, and don't express any interest or concern in figuring out what is going on. I wrote this review because I don't want others to go through the same experience. It's exhausting and vulnerable to talk about chronic health challenges, and everyone deserves a doctor who wants to help their patients live a healthy and comfortable life. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
