Patients' Perspective

"Needed a cardiologists approval for surgery. Referred one was
not available for a month. Pillai was available. Did not feel
comfortable with him at first visit, but felt that as I rode my
bike 12 miles a day, taken an aspirin for many years, no familyhistory, never a chest pain, felt it would be alright.
Had a stress test, echocardiogram. Met with Pillai 2 days later. Very
grim, one of the arteries to my heart was weakened and would need an angiogram and probably a stent. Showed me
nothing to substantiate this. On my way out he said "You
have lest than a 5% chance of not having a stent. Said I
could not have surgery until at least a month after the
stent and then would need to take a blood thinner for a
month.
As my comfort level with Dr. Pillai was nil, I decided on a
second opinion. The second Cardiologist reviewed my test,
found nothing wrong, approved the surgery, which went
fine. "
