Dr. Michael Judson Smith, MD

Michael J. Smith M.D. earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. He did his internship and general surgery training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his orthopaedic training at the Campbell Clinic, Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Smith has earned a well-deserved reputation as a leading specialist in Sports Medicine and Total Joint Replacement. He has been the team physician for many professional, collegiate, and Olympic teams. He served as the team physician for the Tampa Bay Storm Arena Football League. He has been the orthopedic consultant for the St Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, and the Cleveland Indians baseball teams. Dr. Smith was Chief Physician for the Women’s Olympic Basketball team at the Goodwill Games in Moscow, Russia, and for the US Women’s Olympic Basketball Team during the Trials in Colorado Springs. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American …Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and other multiple medical societies. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Smith has been in private practice in St. Petersburg Florida since 1979 and joined Tampa Bay Orthopaedic Specialists in 2008.
