Dr. Michael Poulos
Dr. Michael Poulos was born in New York City, and also spent time in Philadelphia and Chicago before making his home in Denver. Dr. Poulos received a Bachelor's of Science in Zoology and Biochemistry from Syracuse University and from there went on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine.
After two years of practicing as a general dentist, Dr. Poulos decided that he wanted to do more. In 1978, he entered Northwestern University, where he received his Masters of Science in Biomaterials, as well as his certificate in clinical periodontics and surgery. Dr. Poulos then returned to Denver where he joined Drs. Orban and Silberman at one of this country's oldest and most respected periodontal practices. He has happily been serving patients in this practice since 1980.
Over the years, Dr. Poulos has gained a reputation as one of the leaders in his field, and has worked hard to become so. In addition to being a …fellow of The International College of Dentists, The American College of Dentists, The American College of Oral Implantology, and The Pierre Fuchard Honor Society, he is also a member of and has acted as President or Chairman of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, the Denver Dental Forum, the Rocky Mountain Society of Periodontists, the Rocky Mountain Dental Study Club, the Metro Denver Dental Society and the Denver Dental Foundation, which was founded to offer dental services to battered women. In addition, he was the founder of the Rocky Mountain Osseointegration Implant Study Club, and the Slopeside Implant Study Club, and has acted as General Arrangements Co-Chair of the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention.
Beyond his extensive work with boards and study clubs, Dr. Poulos also lectures nationally and locally on the practice of periodontics and implant dentistry, and has acted as an expert witness for the State Dental Board on numerous occasions. Dr. Poulos is also working in conjunction with leading companies in the Dental implant field researching new technologies that will continue to improve his field and the lives of his patients.
Outside of Dentistry, Dr. Poulos also serves on the Board of The Denver Community Federal Credit Union, and had the honor of being the chairman from 1996 to 1997, and again from 2006 to 2008. In his free time, Dr. Poulos enjoys golf, skiing and hunting, but finds his true happiness when spending time with his wife of 32 years, Terri, their two children, Nick and Jenni, and their spouses, Nicole and Scott, and their labs Lucy, Mora and Zoe.
