OVERVIEW

Michael P. Chase, M.D. is a native of the area and a graduate of Union College. He earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and subsequently completed an internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Internal Medicine. He completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts. He subsequently joined GI Associates in 1999. Dr. Chase has a special interest in Endoscopic Ultrasound, providing expertise in this valuable technology used to diagnose and stage gastrointestinal tumors, mediastinal tumors, and pancreaticobiliary disease. He is an active member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association. He has been awarded fellowship status in the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Chase resides locally with his wife and three children.

"A complete nightmare. Dr. Chase would not listen to me when I told him that the anesthesia was not working for the colonoscopy he was attempting to do on me while I was awake. The pain was unbelievable. Instead of stopping what he was doing, Dr. Chase YELLED AT ME and said it was MY fault the pain medicine wasn't working because I wasn't staying still enough. It is appalling that a physician would ever have the nerve to scream at a patient, let alone a patient who is in the most vulnerable position someone could be in. If a patient tells you to stop because they are in pain, the normal response is not to scream at them. The nurses kept whispering to me how sorry they were that he was treating me this way. It was clear they didn't want to rock the boat with him either or they wouldn't have been trying to quietly tell me this. A doctor should never be showing aggression towards a patient. He created a hostile environment that comes straight out of my nightmares. As a female patient, I highly do not recommend this doctor to ANYONE. "

I would not say they were dismissive, but I would say that it was clear to me that the doctor was not being very compassionate for someone who just learned of this non life threatening issue"
