"I was a patient in the Riverside ER under Dr. Dickson’s care. I had a breakthrough case of COVID after vaccination. My oxygen levels had been fluctuating, as low as 87%, in the days leading up to my visit. I had severe congestion, cough, sore throat, ear ache, headache, body/joint aches, and my eyes were red/swollen. I was instructed by my doctor to go to the ER for evaluation. When I arrived, a nurse took me from the waiting room back to a room where there was only a chair (that didn’t recline). Dr. Dickson didn’t listen to my heart or lungs and spent about three minutes talking to me. The nurse checked my oxygen level, which was 96%, for about a minute. She only checked it once the entire time I was there - she also took my blood pressure (which was high). I tried to tell them that my oxygen saturation had been 87% and I struggled to breath. Despite my symptoms, they didn’t provide any treatment/meds for my symptoms (they didn’t even offer me water while I was there). Dr. Dickson did ...
order a chest X-ray, and had the nurse tell me it was “okay” before they sent me home (4 hours later). I felt worse than I did when I arrived but I went home. I felt awful all night, but managed to see my PCP the next day. She took one look at me and ordered steroids, breathing treatments, Flonase, and an antibiotic for my eyes. She couldn’t believe they did so little for me in the ER. She also diagnosed me with laryngitis - she said in my condition I should probably go to another ER for evaluation (she couldn’t get the results of my x-ray). I know health care workers are overwhelmed right now, but I expected better care than I got. I’m vaccinated, wear my mask, and take all the precautions I should. Really disappointed with Dr. Dickson and OhioHealth. From the moment I arrived and said I had COVID, I felt like they avoided me and treated me like I shouldn’t be there. I would not recommend Dr. Dickson or the Riverside ER. "

"Please, do not go to OhioHealth to see this doctor. Please. During my visit to the emergency room, Matthew David Dickson, MD, showed no interest in caring for me or addressing my problem properly. He was more concerned about the time that I had came in than the reason I was there. Him and the nurse constantly had this urgency to get out of the room and not be bothered with any of my questions. The nurse also didn’t bother getting too close to me, as she didn’t even bother to assess my lungs during the routine check. So, the respiratory information was wrong on my print out, also. While waiting alone in the room for nearly an hour without any nurse checking in, I heard the doctor, Matthew, as he approached my door. I overheard him making very derogatory comments about me and my name to the nurse. He opened the door and came into the room, then acted as if he didn’t care that I heard him; and continued to act as if he cared. The nurse stood outside the door while he went over the results. I ...
asked him a question and as I was speaking, the nurse abruptly walked away, gesturing as if my concerns were not important. You go in. And, you trust these people. How is all this acceptable? They just do not care. And, unfortunately, the nurse also never bothered giving her name during the visit. These people at this location left me with an impression no patient should ever feel. Will never return. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
