FEATURED REVIEW

OVERVIEW

About Dr. Campbell Dr. Mary Elizabeth Campbell always knew she would be a doctor, even from a young age. “Despite exploring other career paths, I always kept coming back to medicine,” she says. She received degrees in both biology (BS) and history (BA) at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. She then earned her MA in Physiology from Ball State University, Muncie, IN, and her MD/MPH (Master of Public Health) at Indiana School of Medicine, Indianapolis. Dr. Campbell completed her residency at Center for Family Medicine, Sioux Falls, SD. Her medical practice allows her to care for the whole family, through the entirety of her patients’ lives, including pre-birth. “The immense variety of cases and presentations helped draw me to family medicine,” she says. As a Beacon physician, Dr. Campbell focuses on family medicine, and is able to offer obstetrics and substance abuse treatments, like Suboxone, which is for the treatment of opioid addiction. “My philosophy is to treat the whole person both mentally and physically, particularly by listening to my patients,” she says. “I have learned that the best tool is to truly listen to the patient while trying to find the best treatment approach to help them.” In her own words… What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it?  My first job was a summer camp counselor at Camp Eberhart. I remember most the pure joy of kids being able to experience and learn new things they had never tried before. What is your favorite food? Movie?  My favorite food is fondue. I enjoy most historical movies so long as they are “close” to being accurate. What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up?  I loved all subjects particularly history and science, but I could never master any art past stick figures. If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why?  Alice Roosevelt: she had the courage and the fortitude of a woman out to change the world. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about?  Aside from my husband and two daughters, I am passionate about basset hounds. I also enjoy horseback riding and tennis as well as many water sports, in particular waterskiing. What are your hobbies, interests?  I enjoy cross-stitching when I have the time.

"My dad and stepmother had a great experience with Dr. Campbell. Dr. Campbell listened to all their concerns and help them understand their questions. "

"I recently moved out of state and had to start over with a new primary physician. Met with Dr. Campbell yesterday for the first time and I was thrilled at her thoroughness, knowledge, professionalism and compassion. I'm older and was a little nervous about starting over--but I left there feeling like I chose the right doctor. She listened to my concerns with great attention--which was really important to me. Absolutely thrilled to know I'm going to get such good care."

"I do not recommend this provider to anyone. After seeing another doctor at the same location just 5 days prior, I was told the mask policy of the clinic has changed, and that I did not need to wear a mask once in the patient room. When I went to see Dr. Campbell, I had pulled my mask down while in the room. She came in and immediately scolded me like a small child and told me that there was a lot of COVID and that I needed to wear my mask even when no one was in the room (makes zero sense). She also repeatedly mentioned how young I was (I’m in my 30s and she’s not THAT much older than me). I did not appreciate being treated the way she treated me. I left feeling embarrassed and ashamed for something I thought was a policy change. She is cold and does not come across as caring at all. Probably the least favorite MD I’ve ever seen. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
