"I don’t normally leave poor reviews, but I found the situation to be very disheartening. I had gone in at the end of the May to have, what I thought, was a cyst on my scalp removed. It had been determined in a previous visit that whatever was under my skin was causing alopecia. The doctor stated she would at least send out a biopsy to determine if it truly was alopecia. She said she wouldn’t need to shave me because I already had a bald spot. When I get there on surgery day, they used a topical lidocaine. I was then brought back and a chunk of my hair, about the size of a half-dollar, was cut all the way to the scalp around the spot. I had very long hair, so it was scary for me that this happened. Especially since I wasn’t aware hair needed to be cut per previous conversation The physician then came in and stated she wasn’t going to do surgery because she didn’t feel anything under my skin anymore. She didn’t recall the alopecia biopsy and had to look at her notes. I completely understand ...
and respect a doctor’s decision to not perform a surgery. However, I was really upset my hair was cut before she had assessed the area as the damage had already been done. I went home and cried, but I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it because I understand things happen. I get a bill a few months later for the visit. They charged me for the office visit but not the surgery. But my hair had already been cut. I asked if there’s a way to dispute the charge, but they said the doctor didn’t do the surgery/ the office visit warranted a charge. I paid it so it wouldn’t eventually go to collections or cause problems for myself. I am just very hurt that I was charged for the whole situation. I feel as though it was something that should have been written off because a section of hair was cut off for no reason. I wanted to share my experience with others so it doesn’t happen to them, too. For some it might not be a big deal, but hair can be a huge security to others. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
