"On May 8th 2017 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I’d had no symptoms but a little tinnitus in my left ear. The ringing you occasionally get in your ears after a show? I ignored it for a year. It was sporadic, sometimes lasting 15 minutes or a couple of hours every few weeks. It was only due to a hunch by an ENT surgeon, an impressive man with even more impressive credentials, that I was lucky enough to catch it. He saved my life. Dr Madison Richardson, a 35 year specialist in brain cancer surgery, ordered a CT scan and a MRI then broke the news to me. I remember him holding my shoulders (catching my fall?) then repeating softly “you’re not going to die,” my mind trying to process while silently screaming a thousand questions from deep within. The tumor was benign but I had a medium sized acoustic neuroma and it had to come out. Had it not been for Dr. Richardson, I really don’t know, five years on, whether it would have been diagnosed by now. I was lucky. The multiple friends that ...
I referred to him over the years have been lucky. Lucky to encounter a doctor whose instincts, foresight, immense knowledge and endless curiosity helped put us on a path to better health and wellbeing. I’ve made a full recovery; the experience was one that I’m forever grateful for. Dr. Richardson not only changed my life, he changed me as a person. He’s more than a doctor now, we are lifelong friends. There’s no one would I would trust more with my health than him. He takes time with his patients so have patience. He’s worth the wait. He’s quite the character too. His secretary Joanne is the perkiest and so warm. You don’t realize how much you need that when life throws a curveball. I wanted to share what I learned in the hope that this will help someone. When your health goes, nothing else matters. The only thing you want is to feel well again so take good care of your body, it’s the only one you have. They dated my tumor back to 7-8 years ago, my life has changed so much in that time. I’m lucky to have a second chance. Stress plays havoc with your body so be mindful. Learn to not be so hard on yourself and don’t sweat the small stuff. Ask yourself if someone says or does something, will it bother you in five days, five weeks, five months or five years. Chances are it won’t so release it into the ether and let it go. Breathe. It works wonders. Get out and experience nature, the world. I saw this years ago and I loved it: ‘Dear Heart, music is so good. Wish you could hear’ - music is therapy. Live in the moment than from behind a small screen. Chase your dreams, they can still happen. Ask yourself what would you do if you had more time? Thank your lucky stars when you find a truly great doctor, they are rare and there really is no like Dr. Richardson. "

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
