Dr. Berkowitz received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from the University of Illinois, and did his Primary Care Internal Medicine residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Dr. Berkowitz's clinical experience includes work as a Primary Care Physician and teacher in both a large academic medical center and a community-based clinic. His academic informatics background includes work in medical decision making and medical record theories, with academic informatics research experience at both the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Berkowitz currently is an Internal Medicine physician and the Medical Director of Information Technology and …Innovation for the largest primary care group in Chicago, where he has helped lead an enterprise wide EMR project resulting in a paperless clinical workflow for all their physicians.
