"My wife and I had a very bad experience with Dr. Laura Tom and her team of residents, interns, and student doctors. Dr. Tom destroyed my wife's body with her botched and disfiguring surgery. She allowed residents to operate on my poor wife's body without our knowledge, permission, or signed consent. We clarified that we understood she works in a teaching hospital, but we did not want any teaching on my wife; Dr. Tom listened and agreed, but she did not honor her agreement and our wish. Once we saw the terrible outcome, we were flabbergasted and shocked. My wife had ended up with unequal breasts and uneven nipples, with one breast sitting higher than the other, with abnormally enlarged areola of the left breast, and an unsightly scar under both breasts. I was able to see Dr. Tom only once after repeated requests and asked her to correct her botched surgery and at least make my wife's breasts equal. Still, she refused and acted as if we were imagining what we saw, and both my wife and I ...
had psychological disturbances. She was rude and offensive, walked out of the room angrily, and did not let us finish talking with her. After that visit, we only saw the residents and nurse practitioners, and Dr. Tom would not attend to us or come to our room; even if I saw her in the clinic talking and teaching, Dr. Tom would avoid me. I asked to see Dr. Tom repeatedly but was told she was busy with other patients or had to attend meetings. I was desperate to see my wife in that much grief, so I called the hospital's plastic surgery department and filed a complaint, but no one answered my call. My wife and I chose Dr. Tom, assuming that as a woman, she would have compassion and understanding for another woman's body. Boy, we were so wrong! We urge any woman out there who is looking for a plastic surgeon to stay away from Dr. Laura Tom and her team of residents. If at least one woman sees this review, and the system does not take it down, and it could help save one woman from Dr Laura Tom, I have done my good deed for this year. "

"Dr. Tom is the most uncompassionate and heartless doctor I have ever encountered. She has no empathy or consideration for sanctity of human life . She has destroyed my mothers body with her botched surgery. Dr. Tom had no concern for my Mothers suffering and pain following her surgical complications. Dr. Tom did not follow my mother after surgery and put my mothers care into the hands of residents and her nurse practitioner. She did not return any of my phone calls and did not tell me what went wrong with my mothers surgery. There were no explanations, and no clear answers just hints from staff that the surgery was done by student doctors !!!!! Dr. Tom had used my mothers ill, frail, and disease stricken body as a teaching surgical case for residents and interns !!!!!! My mother was under anesthesia for 8 hours to be practiced upon by her residents. This action was done absolutely against our wishes and without my mothers permission or consent. I complained but it got no where, they told ...
me everyone has to learn somewhere !!!!!!! All doctors need to be trained !!! No one answered me why on my old, ill mother ????? Who is taking care of my mother now ??? Me or those residents that practiced surgery on her or Dr ….who had the glory of staging my ill mothers body for teaching demonstration?? I strongly advise anyone reading this review to avoid this surgeon and her team. She will scar your body, and your soul, she will break your spirit and your heart. She will make you loose faith in the American Medical System. It is hard enough to be ill and have a disease, but what is worse is to be in the hands of a mean spirited surgeon who breaks you even further, a surgeon who creates inordinate amount of damage, with wounds that won’t heal and scars that won’t go away. A surgeon who has no empathy for you as a human being and will destroy you in every possible way. I am impressed with terrible fragility of human body and unbelievable resiliency of human spirit "
