Dr. Kenneth Vern Ackerman, MD

Internal Medicine

Welcome to my Kaiser Permanente Web page! On this page you will find some information about me and my practice, and I hope it helps you to get to know me better or to make a decision about who you choose for your primary care doctor. Biography I was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1955 and raised in the northern suburbs. My relatives were the pioneers in the family, moving to the newly opened Leisure World in Seal Beach in the late 1950s. I remember a lot of orange groves back then, a more idyllic time of "E" tickets at Disneyland, when Knott's was actually a berry farm, and they still had tours at the Busch factory in Van Nuys. I moved out here in 1981 expecting the same thing. Little did I know! The last 25 years have seen a lot of changes in Southern California, and not all of them good. But I've also seen Kaiser Permanente grow into a mature, high-quality health plan. I'm happy to be practicing in a program that has raised the bar for all health care delivery systems. About my practice All of the members in my practice know that I can run late. I don't run my practice like I was working on a conveyor belt. Remember that "I Love Lucy" episode in the chocolate factory? I don't do that. I don't think it is good medicine, and I wouldn't want to be treated like a widget if I were a member. So I spend time talking to my patients, discussing their care (and their grandchildren, and their travels.) and making sure they understand their problems and how we are trying to fix them. My patients tell me they don't mind waiting for me to get to them, so if you are the kind of person who thinks a doctor's visit should be a pleasant experience without a lot of rushing, then you and I will probably get along. It also helps if you like the movies (my longtime members know what I mean!) How I thrive You will thrive if you exercise, eat a healthy diet, and throw your cares away. The data says if you follow this you will live longer. You probably will, too. Myself, I go to the movies a lot, get eight hours of sleep a night, don't worry about the job when I get home, surf the Internet more than I should, travel less than I want to, and I've never met anything containing chocolate that I didn't like. I'm of a mind that thriving isn't necessarily living as long as circumstances and genetics allow, it's about making the most of the time you have. You want to jog, be my guest. You'll outlive me. In the meantime, I'm planning a trip to the back roads of North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, and staring at the Hershey's Special Dark on my desk left over from Halloween.

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding WebMD Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on WebMD Care. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on WebMD Care are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
