OVERVIEW
Dr. Burroughs is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and proudly serves Sugar Land and the Fort Bend area, where she was recently recognized as Outstanding Female Physician of the year for 2012 by Memorial Hermann Sugar Land. In addition to that top honor, Dr Burroughs was also voted "Most Respectful Physician" in 2011.
She attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where she was awarded the prestigious Howard Hughes Research Fellowship. After graduating with scholastic accolades from the Medical University of South Carolina, in beautiful Charleston, she completed her residency at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX, where she received distinction for excellence in teaching. Additionally, she completed her residency under the guidance of nationally recognized mentors.
Dr. Burroughs is highly trained on the latest medical techniques. She is well versed in minimally invasive hysterectomy, Essure (an in office alternative to tubal ligation), female incontinence …procedures, endometrial ablations, and laparoscopy. In addition, to gynecology procedures, she is highly trained in managing a broad spectrum of obstetrics complications which include, but not limited to, preeclampsia, bleeding (in all trimesters), preterm labor and diabetes.
She entered into the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide comprehensive health care for women throughout their lives; starting in their late teen years. Dr. Burroughs is dedicated to giving each patient undivided attention. She believes that it is, not only important to provide current medical information, but also to deliver it with compassion. On a daily basis, the primary goal of Dr. Burroughs is to ensure that her patients leave the office with a complete understanding.
"I begin every visit with the understanding that each patient is unique and individual. Because of this I make sure to ask each woman that I see; "Do you have any questions?" To me that is one of the most important elements of the visit because it tells me directly what is important to that particular person".
Dr. Burroughs has a special interest in guiding young women, not only with health care issues, but also with regards to honing self esteem and being goal oriented. Recently, she was selected to be an annual speaker at the "Care to Chat" forum, which provides information to young women about various topics on "becoming a young woman".
Dr. Burroughs is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She recently married, in March of 2013, to a Rice and Texas A&M University graduate, Anthony Broussard. "Gig’em". She and her husband attend Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and swimming. Dr. Burroughs has completed sprint triathlon competitions and looks forward to continuing her training. Dr. Burroughs attributes her accomplishments to her parents, who instilled the value of hard work and perseverance, as well as the understanding that God will always guide your footsteps, no wonder many consider her the best gynecologist in Houston, TX.
