"I was a patient of Dr. Julie Thompson at the U of M liver transplant program. Whilst Thompson knows her technical stuff her I found her patient empathy to be more like a probabtion officer than a doctor. I felt more like a criminal under scrutiny than a patient. The U of M Liver Transplant program suffers greatly from a lack of communication and transparency with the patient. There is no handbook guide explaning what is expected from you and if you make what they determine to be non-compliant behavior e.g. missed appt, lab, phone call etc., you can be without notice deactivated from their transplant list. Furthermore, their own staff do make mistakes and won't own anything nor share information about your case. If you are liver patient candidate due to chemical reasons I suggest to apply to the MAYO first and only look at the U of M #2. But, be forwarned if you do end up at the U of M. "
