OVERVIEW
Joan Kroener, MD, has been with Scripps Clinic since 1983, with a special emphasis on the treatment of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. She is part of a multidisciplinary team of general and plastic surgeons, radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists (mammographers), and pathologists who work together to formulate treatment recommendations for breast cancer patients. She is also the director of a multidisciplinary breast cancer conference which focuses on patients with particularly complex problems and has been involved with large cooperative group trials, with an emphasis on NSABP (National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project) trials in breast cancer treatment and prevention. Dr. Kroener believes that the best care comes from offering the most up-to-date, highest quality, evidence based medicine. She strives to have an open and honest relationship with her patients as well as providing them with the care necessary to improve the quality and duration of life. Dr. …Kroener completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University, and then graduated from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Medical School. In her spare time she enjoys tennis, duplicate bridge, and travel.
