Jennifer Banek is a family nurse practitioner who realizes the importance of building a trusting relationship with patients.
“I like to take a team approach with my patients,” she said. “It is important to have an open-ended relationship as this allows for better communication, and a greater understanding of a patient’s goals pertaining to their individual health.”
Banek believes it is crucial for patients to establish a relationship with a primary care provider not only to effectively manage chronic conditions, but to receive preventive care which will help them obtain and maintain good health.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Banek worked as a registered nurse in critical care and emergency medicine. These experiences made her realize she wanted to play a more active role in a patient’s health and wellness.
